Help
Write to [email protected]. The message reaches Nicolas Piplard, who makes Acceptable and answers from that address.
What to put in it depends on what it is about. Each link below opens a message with a line for each thing to say.
A conversion gave a wrong result
Or Acceptable broke something.
- What happened: What you did, what you expected, and what you got instead.
- Conversion: The format of the file you dropped and the format the site expected: "webp to png".
- Site: The page where it happened, if you can share it.
- Browser and version: "Chrome 156", for one.
- Version of Acceptable: Shown on your browser's extensions page.
- Sample file: A file that reproduces the problem helps a lot. Acceptable never uploads your files, so only attach one you are comfortable sending.
A site where Acceptable does nothing
Or does the wrong thing.
- Page: The page with the upload form. If it sits behind a login, say so.
- How you add the file: You click a button and pick a file, you drag the file onto the page, you paste it, or something else.
- What happened: For example: the site rejected the file as if Acceptable were not there, the upload never started, or the page stopped working.
- Browser and version: "Chrome 156", for one.
- Upload widget: If you know which library the site uses (Dropzone, Uppy, FilePond...), name it.
A conversion Acceptable does not support yet
- Source format: The format of the file you have: "heic".
- Target format: The format the site expects: "jpg".
- Where you need it: The kind of site or form that asks for this format. It helps to prioritize.
- Known open source engine: Acceptable only embeds engines with a free license. If you know a library that reads or writes this format, name it.
A question
How Acceptable works, what it does with files, or what its documents leave open.
- Your question
- Browser and version: If your question is about what Acceptable does in your browser.
A vulnerability
Acceptable runs on every page you visit and touches the files you upload. A vulnerability in it is serious, and reports are welcome. Report it privately, to this address, and do not disclose the problem before a fix is available. A good report says what an attacker can do, how to reproduce it, and which version and browser you used. A file or a page that triggers the problem helps a lot.
- Your report is acknowledged: within 7 days.
- You are told whether it is confirmed: within 14 days.
- A fix for a confirmed vulnerability is released: within 90 days, sooner if possible.
Only the latest release receives security fixes.
